I'm Beth, from England. This is my cross stitch blog, but any other crafts I attempt will make their way here too. Enjoy! WIPs: Gruffalo, London Scene (on hold)

Short break
I've been so busy recently that I've barely had time to fit in my stitching, let alone posting updates. Just a quick notice to say that my next post won't be for a week or so; maybe longer. I'm going on a short break to London and have to pack light, and also will probably be too busy each day for stitching! After that I'm going on holiday for two weeks so I'm hoping to catch up on my WIP then... Watch this space.

Gruffalo update 07/07
It's been almost two weeks since I last posted - things have been hectic.
I abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower on Saturday to raise money for Parkinson's UK! It was a phenomenal experience and I am completely overwhelmed by how much I've managed to raise - over £400!!!
My stitching has been with me the whole time and I've made some good progress in my opinion:
I can't wait to iron out the creases. Never thought I'd say that sentence.

My favourite bit at the moment is the sandy path. The colours are lovely and I'm enjoying stitching the details. I've barely had to frog!
I've left the tree for now because it was just getting too fiddly. I'll probably leave it to the end!

Gruffalo update 24/06 - progress is starting to show!
Been stitching as furiously as I can over the last few days when I've had the time to! Here's how it's looking now:
It's definitely starting to take shape!
The Gruffalo's body is frogging central. It's driving me nuts.
Also this week I decided to spoil myself and got my first complete kit - A Dictionary of Tea by Bothy Threads. I'm so excited to stitch it. I used to love the designs when they were on cards and when I found out that they were cross stitches, and that there was a tea on... Well, it was meant to be. I also got it for half price so even better!

ORT jar!!
I started an ORT jar today!
I've been keeping my ORTs (Old Raggedy Threads) in a compartment of my thread box for ages and never got round to getting a jar. But today was the day!
There's something strangely pretty about cutoffs. I like the idea of using them for stuffing but I definitely don't have enough for that yet!

Card-making
I like to make all my own cards. I've always loved card-making and I love the personal touch it adds. It just seems pointless to spend money on a generic card that will get thrown away sooner or later!
My mum's birthday falls on Father's Day this year and here are the cards I have made for them:

As you can see, the camera I started when I was waiting for my threads has been finished, and I designed the strawberry myself.
I'm quite proud of these!

It's been a few days as I've gotten a bit behind on my stitching. Hoping to have a bit more time over the next week though.

Gruffalo update 14/06
Progress has been a little slower than I'd hoped because of work and overall lack of time, but here's the sky nearly finished:
It's so exciting to see it starting to come together!

Father's Day card
While I'm waiting for my threads to arrive I thought I'd make a start on a Father's Day card for my dad (duh)
I can't show a picture of what it will look like finished as I only have the chart, but it's a simple design of a camera.
This is also my first project on evenweave (I usually go for Aida), so I've decided to use six strands because of the size of the gaps in the material.
Here's the first colour finished; the lighting is messing with my camera so the thread looks darker and shinier than it should.

Gruffalo update 08/06
So here is the progress after two days:
As you can see I've finished the title and started the Gruffalo's face.

Progress is limited at the moment because I've had to order a few threads for this. They should arrive in the next few days so I will update again once I have them and can really get on with it :)
I may dig out some other WIPs while I'm waiting. Watch this space!

Gruffalo WIP
This is my current project. I'm doing it for my mum's birthday! She loves the book so I knew I had to make this for her.
Here is what it will look like finished:
I made a small start on the title last night:
I will try and update every couple of days!

"It's always best to start at the beginning"
Hi! I am a complete blogging newbie so I'm not entirely sure what's what yet.
I've been cross stitching on and off for about twelve years now, and I wanted to share my projects with others and hopefully be encouraged to be more on than off!
Updates on my WIPs will come once I figure out how to use this site!
